Academic options
What are my options for my future?
1. University- Applying for a university course would be quite beneficial to my learning, unlike college it has much higher grades for it's courses and a larger variety of options for study, there are many different universities to be explored in the UK to be researched, for instance like living in the north east universities like Sunderland and Newcastle are options I can explore, a good website to use to research and apply to a university is UCAS, in here I can choose to enter as a undergraduate or a postgraduate here in a university when selecting a course. In order to enter a course you will have to meet the requirements such as, Grade and Tariff points etc. UCAS allowed me look into different Universities and here is some courses when I apply.
I would have to meet the minimum off 112-120 Tariff points or get three passes on my GSCE's, in order to do this I should get a high grade at my college course and if it's not enough I should build up my tariff points by studying more at College before going to Uni.
2. Apprenticeships - Where Someone who applies for a paid job also gains the benefit of learning and gain valuable lifetime experiences as well as earning their wages, this can also be applied Via using UCAS. The Website will also tell me everything that I need to know if ever I wanted to consider and apply for one.
3. Full time/Part-time jobs - Unlike apprentice ships and education there is non of that involved, just regular paid position of employment, a part time job normally pays less since you put less hours on that particular job then a regular full time job, there is also different of jobs including self employment.
4. Further Education at college - An alternative to a University, whilst there is plenty of course options there is lower grades to be achieved, on the other hand further education at college could also mean being second or third year student on the same course, but that is unlikely for me since I have already on my second year on my level 3 creative media.
5. Gap Year - There are many options to do in a gap year, many people will use that time to take a break from studying and return feeling refreshed, there are many things to do such as travelling around the world, building a social network by meeting new people, volunteering, building new skills, overall building up your portfolio.
What I want to do personally when I finish college?
What I would like to do after leaving college is to have the gap year option, the main reason is because I want to develop my own independent skills which includes Cooking this is an essential skill to have as in life we have to learn to look after ourselves more and be more independent.
Next thing I want to do is to manage and make stop motion animations and create content for YouTube, the reason for this is because this allows me to further develop my skills in media including, Technical Editing, Soundtrack, visual and practical effects etc. It also allows me to practice for professional careers in the future as well as having fun and enjoyment from it as a hobby since that is something I enjoy doing.
What else can I do in a gap year?
How do I know all this?
Using the UCAS website I have explored my options, I also use the google search engine for additional research on the side, using that knowledge I have finally considered and took my time in choosing my option after making my final decision, and that decision is to take a gap year.
Why choose this option?
Selecting this option is most essential to me as I want to take a small break from studying and make more time for myself to do the things I enjoy doing as well as building up some independence skills including learning to do more cooking at home as well as work on some personal projects that I do at home like my stop motion animations, I will be showing my previous projects shown on my show reel blog post.
