Progression Evaluation

 This is my Final blog for this unit, in this blog I will self reflect and explain what I have picked up and learned in this unit and how it can help me with my future.

1. Research and inspiration: I have done and researched into 3 directors of my choice and selected a favorite movie from each director and what I like about in each of their film. 

Researching on directors allows me to build a better understanding of the media industry and by analyzing their movies I am more able to understand about their successes and why. 

2. Media industry and Academic options: in one of my posts I have included all options that can be applied for my future after leaving college this year, this could mean further education at a university, a job, apprenticeships or even a gap year. 

This is beneficial for me as it gives a variety of choices to consider when leaving college, whether I seek employment or not. 

3. Constructing a CV for Employment: I have made two different drafts for a CV using different templates and designs and showing which one looks more professional. 

Building a CV is beneficial and it’s even better to constantly update and make changes for improvements as this will make myself look more organized and professional. 

4. Constructing a Personal Statement: Similar to my CV post I have made a few drafts and gained feedback, using the feedback received I have undertaken changes on each draft, unlike a CV personal statements are made for other applications that isn’t employment. 

Like my CV it is beneficial to make improvements and changes to make my statement look more professional, the better it is, the better chances of me finding a place at a College or a University etc. 

5. Brand Logo: I have designed a brand logo and made 8 different versions of the design, using feedback on a survey a high majority of people will point out which design is better and why, using their feedback I have decided to use the logo with the most votes to use that for a business card design.

Every business/company needs their own brand logo, it is a necessity to make them look more recognizable, this helps them to become more well known to locals or anyone internationally. 

6. Designing a Business Card: Similar to the brand logo post, I have also made a survey and made a number of people vote on which design is the best, but with only 4 business cards and each with a front and back design.

Business cards are essential as they not only make you look professional but allow a company to be more recognized and even build up your social networking, so if I were to have a company I’d definitely make this as a priority. 

7. Creating a Showreel: In this post I have made a showreel that is 30 seconds long, I have asked for some feedback with peers using a survey, the biggest thing to improve is to extend the length of my showreel, this suggests that if I made it a bit longer I will have an opportunity to sell myself out there more and showcase more of my work and skills. 

Showreels can catch anyone’s attention, it grabs the viewer’s eyes and gives them the impression of what media you make, this helps to sell yourself out and look unique. 

8. Create Britain Profile: In this post I have sent a link to showcase what a profile is and what it can be used for. 

By creating a profile you can connect with different users and build a social network online, in this platform you can really sell yourself out and show off your skills, you never know someone who might be famous or well known that might want to reach out and collaborate with you someday or just at least impress them. 

9. Mock Interview: I was tasked to come up with an idea for a new tv show for the BBC, in the post I have featured a video lasting 9+ minutes of me trying to sell my idea in a mock interview. 

This mock interview is good practice of what it can be like in the real world when applying for a job, it was quite a challenge for me since it was a test of selling myself out and keeping my confidence up whilst trying to not look too anxious at the same time, at least though in this interview I felt I have done well and I have presented many great ideas. 

10. Networking Experience In this post I have listed at least 6 people and their job experiences, including a social network can really build up my portfolio become more well known in the industry if I stay in touch with people. 

Overall I think I come pretty far this year, I have met different people and explored a bit of my future, I feel that my journey in life is just beginning.
